New Arbitration System for Argentinean Domain Names.
NIC Argentina continues its efforts to avoid domain names cyberocupation in Argentina. To the limitation of 200 domains registered per owner now NIC.AR is adding a new arbitration system to recover domain names which is easier and free.
Newspaper “El Clarín” informed yesterday that the Government is preparing a new procedure to solve faster domain names disputes under .com.ar.
The new procedure will come into force in about two months.
The new regulation will allow NIC Argentina to determine who the owner of a domain in conflict will be, until today, normally, it was necessary to appeal at a court.
How will it works? If a person is trying to register his trademark and the domain name is taken, this person can complain to NIC Argentina. NIC Argentina will contact the actual owner of the domain name and ask for document for support, after this NIC will decide if it approve or denies the initial registration. The procedure will be free and it will take no more than two weeks.
Until now, only famous people and well known companies were protected by this procedure because NIC Argentina does not allow the registration of famous names without the corresponding authorization.
The new procedures intends extending to protect all kinds of trademarks and companies.
This project is very advanced and it is only waiting for the presidential authorization.
